As a dancer and choreographer recently appointed to the Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch’s management, Boris Charmatz challenges dance with formal constraints that redefine the possibilities of the discipline. The stage is like a blank page where he mixes concepts with organic substance in order to observe the chemical reactions induced. On a large scale or in the private sphere, inside or outside as he seems to enjoy the most, like with Terrain, located in the HDF region at the Phénix, the Opéra de Lille and the Maison de la Culture d’Amiens. He’s been invited to the 2024 Avignon festival, where he presents again his solo show Somnole – also presented as the opening show of the Phénix coming season.
