Carmen étrangère familière
Antoine Thiollier & Romain Louveau | Ensemble Miroirs Étendus

How to get Carmen out of the opera world ? Antoine Thiollier is giving it a try. He’s taking the famous piece as closely as possible to human passions, enabling a new reading of the famous Bohemian’s destiny.
Bizet died while watching a representation of his underestimated work, he will know nothing about Carmen’s amazing success, today’s world most performed lyrical piece. Timeless hits, the songs are as famous as their story : Don José kills the exotic Carmen when the latter leaves him for another one. Femme fatale or emancipated woman ?
In Antoine Thiollier’s adaptation, that’s for us to judge. Stripped of the opera ceremony and cut down to the love plot, this romantic tragedy is performed with sensitivity by ten actors and musicians. Let’s be thrilled with this rebel !
