As a satire of affectation and vainglory, Les Précieuses Ridicules tells the trendy influencers and instagramers’ ancestors.
Two simpering small-town girls hoping to fit in the happy few with their sophisticated jargon and flamboyant looks. After rejecting two great catches, too serious to them, they fall in love with their butlers who disguised as ridiculous marquis. Molière revitalised the genre of the burlesque comedy by making it modern. A satirical parody of the refinements of courteous conversation. The Théâtre Molière Sorbonne comes back again to Valenciennes to present a new, well historically documented play faithful to the 1660s theatrical customs.
