Die Erdfabrik
(La Fabrique de la terre)
Georges Aperghis
When the great contemporary composer Georges Aperghis takes an interest in the mining region, he delves deep into it. As a concert and a video installation, Die Erdfabrik delves into the heart of the earth in a captivating light and shadow effect.
When the Ruhrtriennale asked Georges Aperghis to write a new piece, he got passionate about the history of the mining region, from the industrial landscape to the heart of the earth where raw material mirrors the various strata made up since the dawn of time. In an intimate set, five artists equipped with pretty unusual instruments, perform a musical show exploring darkness and surprises it may hold. Insomnia and imaginary monsters come out from a rock come to life through Jeanne Apergis’s animation films.
